Palma Guide – The best chiringuitos in Mallorca
It’s now officially summer. And even though we’ve been having great weather for a while now, summer definitely lifts our spirits and makes us happy. And if you’re a summer-lover like we are, you’ll love this new post where we tell you all about those typical Mediterranean beach restaurants known as ‘chiringuitos’ here on the island. Ready to have lunch with your toes in the sand?
Top 5 chiringuitos in Mallorca
Beach life is the best life. Prove us wrong! There’s just something relaxing and fun about spending the day by the beach and letting your worries fade. And how can a great beach day become a brilliant one? Easy! With some lunch or dinner with your toes in the sand. Check out our five favourite chiringuitos on the island.
El Chiringuito by Kazan – Costa de la Calma
About 15-20 minutes away from Palma’s city centre you’ll find a little resort called ‘Costa de la Calma’ in the area of Santa Ponsa. One thing you need to know about this place is that it probably has one of the best sunsets on the island. But this ‘chiringuito’ is not only a great place to watch the sunset and have some drinks, but also an idyllic spot to spend the day at one of their sunbeds, take a dip into the Med and order lunch from their menu. They recently changed the owners, which is why they added the ‘by Kazan’ this season and we’re looking forward to this new chapter of their life.

Chiringuito de Cala Sa Nau – Cala Sa Nau
This beach restaurant has been one of our favourites for years now. They have one of the best locations for a Mediterranean lunch, right at the beach of Cala Sa Nau, in the area of Felanitx. Not only do they offer a great variety of fresh dishes, including local fish and seafood, but they also serve fun signature cocktails, becoming the perfect gastronomic destination for anyone visiting or living on the island.

Ponderosa Beach – Playa de Muro
No holiday on Mallorca is complete without a visit to Ponderosa Beach. That’s right, we said it! Ponderosa Beach is a more sophisticated ‘chiringuito’ or as they call themselves, a ‘chiringuito 2.0’. The concept remains the same: having food with your toes in the sand. But they have definitely taken their gastronomic concept to a whole new level, becoming a ‘must visit’ for foodies. Their paellas are the best ones out there and they have a wide selection of spectacular dishes, including fish, meat, veggie options and more. Located at the stunning and family-friendly 6 km long ‘Playa de Muro’, this is a great place to spend the day. Bonus! They have live DJs playing every day from 16h to 19h.

El Chaval – Magaluf
If you’re thinking about staying close to Palma while still living the ‘chiringuito’ experience, ‘El Chaval’ in Magaluf is a great option. Located on a terrace overlooking the Med, it will definitely become one of those restaurants you’ll have on your list of places you cannot get tired of. They also have a few sunbeds with direct access to the sea, which you can book before or after lunch.

5 Illes Beach – Platja de s’Estanys
Last, but not least, we’re heading South to get to one of our fav’ areas of the islands, due to its list of beautiful beaches and coves. In the area of Colonia de Sant Jordi, you’ll find a white sandy beach called ‘Platja de s’Estanys’, home to the last beach restaurant on our list: ‘5 Illes Beach & Sunset’. With a laid-back atmosphere and a good range of dishes for everyone’s taste, it is great to visit with the whole family on a sunny day. They often host special events, such as ‘Flamenco & Tapas’ and other fun evenings with live music.
