Nakar stays at home – our best tips!
How are you holding up, folks? We’re definitely trying our best no to loose it, but we’re also aware we can’t do anything else but wait. And as we’re all in the same situation and cannot leave home for some weeks, we thought we might share some of our best tips to make the most of staying at home!
Staying at home – best tips by Nakar Hotel
One of the positive things of staying at home is that we’re definitely getting some s**t done, are you too? After going full on Marie Kondo on our house, we still manage to do some things we love to do, but never do, because we’re usually all out and about when we’ve got some hours to spare.
But now that we’re all at home, we wanted to share some of our best tips on a few subjects: books, series and movies, music & sports. Shall we?
Books to read during quarantine
We’re bookworms. Sit back, take your time and dive into one or many books, you’ll find it not only stress relieving, but also enriching for your mind and soul. And if you ask us what we’re reading these days, we’ll definitely want you to know about two books. First, ‘The Churchill Factor’. It’s a book by Boris Johnson in which he details the life of the former Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill. Even though it has been on the market since 2014, we’ve just picked it up now and we cannot stop reading!
The second book we’ve got on our night table (and to be honest, now it’s also on our lunch table, tea table, garden table, etc.) is ‘Becoming Michelle Obama’ by the one and only Michelle Obama (do you also have a crush on her? OMG, we LOVE her!). It’s a gorgeous journal that invites you to explore your own story in a unique way. Highly recommended!
Series and movies to watch during lockdown
Another one of our hobbies while at home: binge-watching shows and checking out new movies. Who else is enjoying their Netflix, HBO or Amazon Prime subscription more than ever? Hell yeah! This is our selection. With only four episodes, ‘Unorthodox’ is on the top of our list. Smart, interesting, with a perfect script, amazing actors, incredible photography it tells the story of a Jewess from a Hasidic community in Brooklyn, who decides to flee and make a new life in Berlin. It’s a story based on ‘Unorthodox: The Scandalous reject of my Hassidic roots’ by Deborah Feldman.
Moving on, we’re binge-watching ‘Succession’ on HBO. It’s an American satirical comedy-drama television series about the fictional Roy family, the dysfunctional owners of a global media and hospitality empire. If you have a sharp sense of humour, you’ll love it!
And if you’re into docu-series, you cannot miss ‘Tiger King’ on Netflix. Ready to drop your jaw every two seconds? Well, on ‘Tiger King’ – described as the most ‘disturbing’ documentary ever, you’ll follow the story of the war between Joe Exotic, the owner of G.W. Zoo, and Carole Baskin, lead at Big Cat Rescue, who was trying to take him down. Big cats, messy relationships, rednecks & more. Go for it!
For more documentaries, you could add ‘Minimalism’, ‘Ícaro’ or ‘A plastic ocean’ to your Netflix list.
Stay fit & active during lockdown
We cannot forget about staying active these days at home. Don’t let stress take over your body and try to keep moving! It doesn’t matter if you’re not a fitness expert; there are routines for everyone!
If you ask us, we’re following four accounts on Instagram to stay fit: Alo Yoga (@aloyoga), Solo en Casa Festival (@soloencasafestival), Gemelas Pin @gemelas_pin) and Coco Constans (@ffitcoco). Let us know what you think!
Let music into your quarantine-life!
Last, but not least, we’re listening to TONS of music. Old, new, we cannot get enough of adding a soundtrack to our days. Are you feeling the same?
Well, we’ve got a ‘must’. Click here and find all our Djs playlists by #Nakarmusic. There’s something for every mood & every moment of the day. Enjoy!
