Palma guide – Art and culture in Palma: a tour of galleries and museums
Palma is many things. It’s sunshine, turquoise sea, amazing food and historic architecture. But if you scratch just beneath the (very photogenic) surface, you’ll find something else that makes this city so special: its thriving art and culture scene.
From contemporary galleries hidden in narrow streets to centuries-old buildings and museums filled with masterpieces, Palma is packed with creativity. Whether you’re a modern art lover, a fan of classic painting or simply someone who enjoys a good cultural wander, this city delivers.
So grab a coffee, put on your most gallery-appropriate outfit (you know the one) and let’s go on a little cultural tour through Palma.
Galleries and museums in Palma
Es Baluard Museu d’Art Contemporani de Palma
Let’s start with one of the big ones. Set inside a former military fortress overlooking the bay, Es Baluard is Palma’s contemporary art museum and it’s as cool as it sounds. The space itself is stunning, and inside you’ll find works by Spanish greats like Picasso, Miró and Barceló, alongside a rotating calendar of cutting-edge exhibitions. Bonus: the views from the terrace are almost art in themselves.
Gallery RED
Tucked just behind Paseo del Born, Gallery RED is where luxury lifestyle meets curated contemporary art. This space is sleek, modern and full of personality—much like the pieces it houses. You’ll find works from globally recognised artists alongside emerging talent, all carefully selected with that signature bold RED aesthetic. They also focus on limited-edition design pieces and offer a boutique-style experience that makes the visit feel anything but ordinary. Think high-end meets high-art.
Fundació Miró Mallorca
If you’re a Miró fan (or about to become one), this is a must. Located just a short ride from the centre, this foundation was once the artist’s home and studio. It’s one of those rare places where you can feel the creative energy still in the air. You’ll see his paintings, sculptures, personal objects and the studio exactly as he left it. It’s an inspiring, personal look into the mind of a genius.
Galeria Kewenig
Back in the heart of Palma, this gallery is a favourite for contemporary art lovers. Kewenig is located inside a 13th-century townhouse that feels like an artwork in itself. The gallery represents international artists and is known for bold, thought-provoking exhibitions that change throughout the year. Definitely a spot to keep your eye on.
Museu Fundación Juan March
Set inside a beautiful modernist building, this museum houses an impressive collection of 20th-century Spanish art. Think Dalí, Picasso, Juan Gris… Entry is free (yes, free), and it’s the perfect place to escape the midday sun while soaking in some serious artistic greatness.

Casal Solleric
At the top of Passeig del Born, you’ll find Casal Solleric, a public cultural centre located in an 18th-century mansion. The space hosts exhibitions ranging from photography to sculpture and everything in between. It’s right in the middle of town, so super easy to visit between brunch and a bit of shopping.
