Palma Guide – Mallorca’s best beaches to visit this summer

Beach time is officially on. That means packing your tote with SPF, snacks and that book you’ve been pretending to read & heading out to discover some of the dreamiest beaches on the island. At Nakar, we’ve done our homework (tough job, we know) and we’re ready to share our favourite beach spots for this summer.

Some are total hidden gems. Others? Local legends you just can’t skip, even if they’re not exactly a secret. Ready to dive in?

Beaches in the North & Northeast – wild vibes and crystal water

Cala Mesquida

One word: WOW. Cala Mesquida is a stunner with golden sand dunes, pine trees and unreal turquoise water. The waves can be a bit wilder here, absolutely perfect if you love a bit of drama with your swim. Bonus: there’s a beach bar to keep you hydrated and happy.

Formentor Beach

It’s legendary for a reason. A long beach surrounded by pine trees, with postcard-worthy clear water and views over the mountains. Come early to enjoy it before the crowds roll in – or late afternoon for a peaceful, golden-hour swim.

Formentor

Cala Na Clara

Tiny, wild, and so worth the effort. You’ll need to walk down a path (bring decent shoes), but the reward is a quiet, rocky cove with see-through blue water. Bring everything you need, as there’s zero infrastructure, which is exactly the charm.

Playa de Albercutx

Right next to Formentor but often forgotten, Albercutx is where locals go to skip the fuss. Easy parking, calm waters, and a lovely walk nearby through the charming streets of Pollença if you’re up for a post-swim wander.

Son Serra de Marina

A long, untouched stretch of sand with no hotels, no loud music, just dunes, sea, and chill. It’s a favourite among locals and surfers. The vibe? Relaxed, low-key, and very barefoot-friendly.

Playa de Muro

If you want it all: soft sand, shallow water, beach bars, loungers, family vibes, Playa de Muro is your spot. It’s popular, yes, but spacious enough to find your own corner. Great for a long beach day with snacks, naps and swims on repeat.

Beaches in the South – your Mediterranean postcard moment

Es Caragol

This one’s for the ones who don’t mind walking for a bit. To reach Es Caragol, you’ll have to walk around 30 minutes from the lighthouse at Cap de Ses Salines, but trust us: it’s worth every step. Wild, remote, crystal-clear water and soft white sand. Pro tip: go early and pack a picnic.

Cala Llombards

Tucked between cliffs and framed by pine trees, Cala Llombards is the definition of small but mighty. The sand is soft, the water is next-level clear, and the whole place feels like a hidden cove from a movie. It’s not a total secret anymore, but still keeps that calm, local feel, especially if you go early. Bonus: it’s super photogenic (yes, this is where you’ll want that beach selfie).

Platja de s’Estanys

Just next to the more famous Es Trenc, Platja de s’Estanys is basically its laid-back little sister. Same dreamy turquoise water, same powdery white sand, just fewer people. You can park close and walk over easily, making it one of the most accessible “off-the-radar” beaches in the south. Perfect for when you want that Es Trenc vibe without the crowd.

Palma: the ultimate beach base

Now, here’s the trick. If you want to explore all these beaches without switching hotels every two nights, Palma is the perfect home base. You’re close enough to hit both north and south coasts in a day trip and you come back to the city’s amazing restaurants, cocktails on rooftops, and comfy beds.
