Palma Guide – Beat the Heat: Palma’s top ice cream shops
Palma has a thousand faces: impressive Modernist buildings, the majestic Cathedral and Almudaina Palace, buzzing galleries and museums, boutique shopping and cafés that beg you to sit down and stay a while. But today, we’re zooming in on one of our favourite topics (especially in the summer): ice cream. Because when temperatures rise, nothing beats a scoop (or two) of the best gelato in town. Ready for a sweet little tour?
The best ice cream shops in Palma
There are many types of ice cream lovers, but we like to keep things simple: you’ve got your rich & creamy scoops, and your fresh, icy granita-style ones. And depending on the time of day (or your mood!), both are totally worth it. Here are our favourite spots:
Ca’n Joan de s’Aigo – A true Majorcan gem
This place is a legend. With over 300 years of history and three locations around the city (including one just minutes from Nakar Hotel), Ca’n Joan de s’Aigo is the place for a proper local experience. Don’t miss their almond ice cream and their iconic granizados – a combo of old-school Majorcan vibes and unbeatable flavour. Pro tip: pair your icy treat with an ensaïmada or cuarto.

Ammu Cannoli – Homemade gelato with a Sicilian soul
If you’re into Italian desserts, this is your spot. Ammu Cannoli brings a piece of Sicily to Palma, with freshly made cannoli, sweet brioche buns and homemade gelato served just like in Italy: simple, flavour-packed and made with the best ingredients. Their ice cream? Authentic, creamy and 100% handmade.

Can Miquel – Classic never goes out of style
Another Palma classic. Can Miquel has been scooping ice cream since 1979, and it’s still one of the best places for a sweet break. Just a few steps from Nakar Hotel, this charming little spot has over 90 flavours, including 20 (!) different takes on chocolate. Heaven for chocoholics.

Rivareno – Italian gelato for dessert lovers
Rivareno is the real Italian deal. Creamy, rich and bursting with flavour. Their gelato is made fresh daily with premium ingredients, and there are multiple locations in Palma to fuel your cravings. Our favourite detail? You can fill the bottom of your cone with melted chocolate. Yes, please.

Gelateria Rosario – Sorbets and seasonal flavours
Fresh, fruity and a little bit different, Rosario serves up small-batch sorbets and gelato made with love. It’s the perfect stop if you’re after something homemade, seasonal and refreshing.
