Palma Guide – Visiting Mallorca this summer? Fun activities to try while you’re here
Let’s get one thing straight: Mallorca is much more than beautiful beaches.
Yes, the turquoise water is spectacular. Yes, you’ll probably spend more time in a swimsuit than planned. But once you’ve had your fill of sun and sea (or simply fancy mixing things up), the island offers endless ways to make your holiday even more memorable.
From hidden coves and mountain villages to wine tastings, sunset boat trips and rooftop cocktails, here are some of our favourite summer activities to try while you’re in Mallorca.
Summer activities in Mallorca you’ll actually want to do
Forget ticking boxes. These are the experiences we’d genuinely recommend to a friend visiting the island.
Chase hidden coves along the coast
Everybody knows the famous beaches. But some of Mallorca’s most rewarding swimming spots require a little curiosity.
Rent a car, grab a towel and spend a day exploring coves like Cala Llombards, Cala s’Almunia, Cala Tuent or Cala Murta. Some require a short walk, but that’s often what keeps them special.

Bring water shoes, plenty of water and don’t be surprised if you stay longer than planned.
Book a sunset boat trip
If there is one summer experience that never disappoints, it’s seeing Mallorca from the sea.
Whether you choose a traditional Majorcan llaüt, a sailing boat or a catamaran, an evening on the water offers a completely different perspective of the island. Cliffs glow golden, hidden coves appear around every corner and sunsets somehow feel even better offshore.
Bonus points if there’s a cold drink involved.
Explore Palma after dark
Summer evenings in Palma have a special energy.
The temperature drops, terraces fill up and the city comes alive. Wander through the Old Town, stop for tapas, browse boutiques that stay open late or simply enjoy getting lost among historic streets and hidden squares.

Discover Mallorca’s wine country
Most visitors associate Mallorca with beaches. Fewer know that the island produces excellent wine.
The regions around Binissalem and Santa Maria are home to beautiful wineries offering tastings, vineyard tours and long lunches among the vines.
It’s relaxed, authentic and a fantastic way to spend a summer afternoon away from the coast.

Drive through the Serra de Tramuntana
One of the best things you can do in Mallorca costs absolutely nothing.
Pick a route through the UNESCO-listed Serra de Tramuntana and simply drive. Stop in villages like Valldemossa, Deià, Fornalutx or Sóller. Have a coffee. Browse a gallery. Take a short walk.
The journey itself is the attraction.
Find your favourite rooftop in Palma
We might be slightly biased here.
But summer and rooftops belong together.
There’s something special about watching the sun set over Palma Cathedral with a cocktail in hand and music playing in the background. It’s one of those moments that instantly feels like holiday mode.
Luckily for you, we happen to know a pretty good rooftop right in the centre of Palma.

Experience Mallorca’s food scene
The island’s gastronomy has never been more exciting.
From tiny family-run restaurants and seaside chiringuitos to Michelin-starred dining and creative newcomers, Mallorca offers something for every appetite.
