This time, we’re heading southwest: to Andratx and Puerto de Andratx, two spots that show off the island’s charm in completely different (and equally beautiful) ways.

About 30 km from Palma (a 30–40 minute drive), you’ll find Andratx, a traditional Majorcan town surrounded by mountains, valleys and views that stretch down to the sea. Just a few minutes further, Puerto de Andratx opens up as one of the most picturesque harbours on the island: think sleek yachts, sunset terraces and a mix of local flair and Mediterranean sophistication.
Together, they’re the perfect combo: countryside calm meets coastal style.
What to do, see and eat in Andratx
Start by wandering through the narrow streets of the town centre, full of old stone houses and a quiet, local rhythm that feels miles away from the coast’s buzz.
Make sure to visit the Church of Santa María, perched up with views across the valley, and if you’re into art, stop by the CCA Andratx (Centro Cultural Andratx), one of the most impressive contemporary art centres in Mallorca.
When it’s time to eat, Vents de Tramuntana is a local favourite for Mediterranean cuisine with a creative touch and definitely the best paellas out there, while Oliu combines modern design, excellent service and dishes that really showcase the island’s produce. Both are great options to experience Andratx’s relaxed yet refined food scene. And if you want to go for something authentic: Can Paco or Bar Cubano are local classics where you’ll get real Majorcan dishes and that small-town vibe that’s hard to beat.
What to do, see and eat in Puerto de Andratx
Puerto de Andratx is a different story: elegant, lively and right by the water. Take a stroll along the promenade, stop for a drink as the sun sets, and watch the fishing boats come in next to sleek sailboats.
If you’re hungry, Sumailla is the go-to spot for sushi and fusion flavours right by the water. For a fun, laid-back atmosphere, Tim’s is perfect: good food, great cocktails and live music in the evenings. And for a stylish coffee or aperitivo moment, Cappuccino Puerto de Andratx never disappoints.
If you’ve got some extra time (and energy), the La Trapa trail nearby is one of the island’s most spectacular hikes, with views that will stay with you long after you’re back in Palma.
