Best tapas restaurants in Palma’s city centre

Tast – for classic Spanish tapas

Let’s start with a Palma classic. Tast is right in the centre and is a great option when you’re after proper Spanish tapas, sharing plates and a lively atmosphere.

The menu is full of familiar favourites, so it’s an easy choice when you want to try a bit of everything. Order a few plates for the table, grab a drink and settle in. Perfect for a relaxed lunch, an early dinner or that “let’s just have a couple of tapas” plan that somehow becomes dinner. No judgement here.

El Camino – for the foodies

If you’re looking for something a little more gastronomic, head to El Camino. Located in the heart of Palma, El Camino brings a modern approach to Mediterranean cooking, with seasonal ingredients and plenty of personality.

The counter-style setting makes it feel more like an experience than a traditional tapas bar, and watching the kitchen at work is part of the fun. This is the one to choose when your idea of tapas involves excellent ingredients, interesting flavours and maybe a little food envy when you see what the people next to you ordered.

Vermutería La Rosa – for vermouth o’clock

Somewhere between a tapas bar and an old-school Spanish drinking den, Vermutería La Rosa is exactly the kind of place you want to discover while wandering around Palma. And yes, vermouth is very much the order of the day. Pair yours with a few small bites, a gilda or some classic tapas and enjoy the wonderfully relaxed atmosphere.

It’s particularly good for that late-afternoon moment when you’re not quite ready for dinner but are absolutely ready for a drink.

Vermutería San Jaime – for a traditional Palma vibe

Another excellent option for vermouth and tapas, Vermutería San Jaime brings a more traditional Spanish feel to the list. It’s a great spot for sharing a few plates, trying some local favourites and watching Palma go by. Think tortilla, croquettes, seasonal tapas and, obviously, something cold to drink.

The best part? You can keep it simple. One vermouth, a couple of tapas and a stroll afterwards through the city.

That’s a pretty good Palma afternoon. And hey, it’s only 4 minutes away from our hotel.

Beewi Paseo Mallorca – for something easy and relaxed

And then there’s Beewi, right on Passeig de Mallorca and very close to Nakar. This is the easy option. The “we’re hungry, we want something good and we don’t want to overthink it” option. Beewi serves up tapas, pintxos and Mediterranean-inspired dishes in a relaxed, lively setting.

It works just as well for a casual lunch as it does for an early evening drink and something to eat. And being just a short walk from Nakar means you can always head back to the hotel afterwards.

Very convenient. Very dangerous if you’ve had one too many vermouths.

That’s entirely up to you. The beauty of a walkable food city like Palma is that you don’t need a complicated plan. Pick a place, walk there, order something delicious and see where the afternoon or evening takes you.
